02The Situation

Rawalpindi needs us.

CODE REDField update · 1 September 2026

Rescue 1122 enforced a district-wide Code Red alert in Rawalpindi after Nullah Lai crossed its critical evacuation threshold during torrential monsoon rain. Evacuation alerts were issued for low-lying settlements and a local holiday was declared for all educational institutions.

Safety advisories
  • Avoid unnecessary travel; Murree Road, Chaklala and Islamabad Expressway are severely waterlogged.
  • Keep children away from electric poles and swollen nullahs.
  • Follow Rescue 1122 and district administration advisories; call 1122 in an emergency.
  • Evacuate low-lying homes when instructed by authorities.

Severe rainfall and flooding have affected communities around Nullah Lai and surrounding low-lying areas of Rawalpindi. Water entering homes leaves behind damage that lasts long after the streets are dry.

Project Rahat is focused on supporting families after the immediate emergency response—helping them recover essential household necessities and rebuild daily life.

Project Rahat does not replace Rescue 1122, the district administration, the army, the police, or any professional emergency responder. Rescue and emergency operations remain entirely the responsibility of those authorities.

  • Mattresses and bedding ruined
  • Clothes damaged
  • Kitchen utensils lost
  • Household items destroyed
  • Children's books and school supplies damaged
  • Homes requiring extensive cleaning

  • Never handle electrical equipment in flooded areas
  • Never interfere with active rescue operations
